Summer is here everybody!
What could be more perfect than the sun and beach in this nice weather? that’s why we suggest French Riviera as your summer holiday destination. One of the many interesting places in French Riviera is Cassis which is located in the southern part of France.
Cassis can be reached in about 30 minutes from Marseille by train. From the station, you can take a bus to the city center. Walking is also recommended since the distance is within easy reach plus you get to see the scenery. As it is part of Cote d’Azur, the harbor town is filled with little shops and buildings facing the nice seascape.
There are lots of cute little shops and restaurants in the central area. Since Cassis is close to Marseille, many shops sell Marseille’s soap (savon de Marseille). As for food, you should try seafood while you’re here. Lots of restaurants and cafes are located along the harbor so you can enjoy food with a view. If you’re interested in a particular restaurant or cafe, make sure in advance that they are open during your visit time since several times the restaurant and cafe are serving drinks only.
Main attraction of Cassis is Les Calanques. It is a must-visit for sure!
Les Calanques is a series of creeks along the sea, spreading from Marseille to Cassis. Les Calanques in Cassis itself is mainly divided to three main creeks, Calanque de Port Miou, Calanque de Port Pin and Calanque d’En Vau. If you’re into trekking you can explore them by walking which takes about one and half hours to Calanque d’En Vau, the furthest one.
For you who prefer laid back holiday, you can see Les Calanques by boat, bear in mind though that they don’t allow you to step off from boat so the boat trip will only let you see from a certain distance yet it is still worth it nevertheless. There are several types of boat trips you can choose from 3 to 5 Calanques which ticket can be bought from the ticket hut. In case of a doubt what to visit, just go to tourist information located near the beach.
Other places to see around the central area are parks. You can relax near the pond or play bowl games with friends.
Alors, pack your swimsuit, sunglasses and have a nice trip!
Bon Voyage!
